Advocacy brings Improvement

Organized advocacy brings about change! The nutritional content of fast food for children is improving because of consumer pressure! Let our voices be heard regarding budget cuts that are destined to invade our children’s Circle of Protection. Join us by signing up at http://www.promisethechildrenuu.org

imageSome states (California) have banned toys in children’s meals unless the food meets certain standards including reduced salt, sugar and fat, and green veggies and fruit. McDonalds is taking a tentative step forward with their Happy Meal by reducing both the total calorie count and the fat calories. Sliced apples are replacing a portion of the French fries, and a toy will be included, to entice purchase.

Some fast food restaurants have eliminated the toy and made the meal more nutritious. These actions have been taken as a result of consumer pressure from parents and the National Restaurant Association.
