Blogging Again
Hello everybody,
I am happy to be blogging again. I stopped blogging, when my husband, George, became very ill and needed my full attention. We were referred to Hospice, and George died on July 1st. You may find his obituary here Dr. George Richardson, 89; surgeon, teacher, poet – Boston.com.
I am thankful for the generous support and help from many friends and family members. I am grateful to MA Hospice of the North Shore for giving information, medication, comfort care, and appropriate equipment (a hospital bed and wheelchair) that was paid for by Medicare. A circle of protection surrounded us.
Our last public act together was to support the campaign to override the real estate tax cap so as to provide ongoing support for improvements in education at our local public school. The increase was to be 35 cents per $1000 of assessment or an annual increase of $175 for a $500,000 house. We lost by a two to one vote. Instead of flowers, I asked for donations in George’s memory to the Nahant Education Foundation – http://wwwnahantef.org/ While this cannot make up for the lost vote, we did something.
