We The People Need a Constitutional Amendment

83% of Democrats, 73% of Republicans and 81% of Independents oppose the Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC, and they show strong support in favor of a constitutional amendment stating YES,

1. Corporations are not entitled to the same constitutional rights as human beings, and
2. Congress and the states can place limits on political contributions and spending.

And YES let’s get big money out of elections so that small contributions count because
• Citizen United v. FEC (2010) and other Supreme Court decisions have gutted laws that kept corporations and billionaires from heavily influencing our elections.
• Special interest money, that has soared from $5 billion in 2008 to $8 billion in 2012, has made our elected officials beholden to donors rather than to voters.

I don’t hear about the support for children or families from super pacs supported by corporations. Probably such support is not in their interest. I haven’t heard much about children or families in the 47% who do not pay income taxes – perhaps many earn very little income and they must be sorely in need of help since the economic downturn.

Vote YES with your organization, town, district or state to call on Congress to move an amendment to the constitution that will prevent the personhood of corporations and then present it to the states for approval.
